I have been meaning to write this post as I want to tell you a bit about myself and also about Kahani Dor and how it all started.
First of all, my discovery of India over 12 years ago, in my early twenties, I was immediately drawn to this exotic country. My fascination was such that I made it my home for 5 years! First to study, then to work and finally for love. It was an incredible journey and I felt very lucky to be exposed to so many new experiences. This relationship with India became even more meaningful and permanent when I married my husband 7 years ago.
From then on, I knew that Kahani Dor would one day come true as I had admired and grown an interest for the rich heritage of Indian craftsmanship over the years. But as life can be, it took me a while to take the plunge. When I did, two years ago, life surprised me with another project, we were expecting a baby boy 🤗
At the time Kahani Dor started as a side project alongside my full time job. I wanted to spread the amazing craftsmanship that was there and share these beautiful pieces with anyone who couldn't make it there. As I researched, I realised that the textile trade employed a lot of people and that valuing their work could make a real difference to their economic betterment and potentially refraining them to work in factories and losing their craft. So I made several trips to different parts of the country, exploring and discovering different crafts. At the end, the first pieces of Kahani Dor were born.
Thank you all for being here with us and supporting the Kahani Dor Family🤍
